Minoue’s How-Tos: Polished Makeup in Under 10 Minutes

With the holidays fast approaching (Christmas is in exactly one month!), I thought it would be nice to share four items that can be used to create a polished makeup look in less than 10 minutes.

Before getting started, apply your regular foundation and/or concealer where needed. In my case, it’s under my eyes and near my nose. Then:

STEP 1

Using a fluffy brush, apply a luminous blush like Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (Incandescent Electra), making a number three that starts at your temple, moves in towards your cheekbone, and goes out again near your jawline. $45 at Sephora.

STEP 2

Apply liquid eyeliner very near your upper lash line, creating a slight wing at the outer corner of your eye. My current favourite is Creer Beaute Miracle Romance Spiral Heart Moon Rod Liquid Eyeliner. It has the finest tip and goes on super smooth! About $37 on amazon.ca.

STEP 3

Wiggling the brush, apply a lengthening mascara to just your upper lashes. I love the precision and fullness achieved with the Rimmel London Wonderf’fully Real Mascara! It really adds tons of length. $9.99 in pharmacies.

STEP 4

Finish off your look with a bright two-toned lipstick for a pop of colour that still works for daytime. I’ve really been enjoying Laneige Two Tone Lipstick (No. 10 Burgundy Love) lately. Place the lipstick so that the darker hue goes on near the opening of your lips, and the lighter one goes on near your lip contour, then blend a little bit with your finger. $35 at Sephora.

What are your go-tos for a quick makeup look? Let me know in the comments!

Note: I was provided with PR samples of the mascara, blush, and lipstick, but as always, opinions are my own.
