Travel Skincare Essentials

As you know if you’ve been following my Instagram Stories, we’ve been vacationing in Italy for a little over a week now. We try to travel light, so my skincare routine naturally gets pared down compared to what I do at home.

I do it by taking multipurpose formulas with me, and minis that I’ve stashed away for the occasion. I also make sure to have one plain moisturizer and always think about taking products whose tubes or jars are plastic: they weigh less, and I also don’t need to worry about them shattering in my suitcase. Here are some selections from my cosmetics bag:

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Sensitive Prebiotic Care

This has no fragrance and its texture is lovely (it includes glycerin, squalane, shea butter): not too rich, but thick enough that it feels comforting. It was designed for sensitive skin. I had planned to use it as my morning moisturizer, but a few days in, I realized that it pills under cream blush and highlighter (I don’t wear foundation), so I’ve been using it at night instead.

Healavie Waterdrop Sun Gel SPF 50, PA+++

Still my favourite sunscreen to date. It goes on 100% clear and feels light as a feather!

Karine Joncas Gold Youth Night Repairing Dermo-Intensive Concentrate

This little bottle contains peptides, a hydrating complex and hyularonic acid to help smooth fine lines and brighten up your skin. I love that it can be used on the face (including the under-eye area!) and neck, and that the bottle is so small. Very travel friendly!

Dr.Ci:Labo Aqua-Collagen-Gel Super Moisture EX

I’ve posted about this all-in-one formula in the past, and I’m still super impressed with it. Its formula is chock-filled with potent ingredients (vitamin C, HA, ceramides, collagen), and can double as a night mask. But for this trip, I’ve been using it in the morning as my day moisturizer and noticed that it really makes my skin glow!

Shiseido Bio-Performance Glow Revival Eye Treatment

This eye cream really helps with fine lines and brightness, and just overall moisture. When we arrived in Milan, I had a reaction under my eyes, where the skin was rough and flaky. A few days of applying this cream religiously, and the issue was resolved. The cream includes vitamin C and HA, among other ingredients.
