Goodbye, Dark Circles: My Favourite Concealers

My number one concern with my face has always been my dark circles. I wear makeup because I like to, and I have no qualms about going out in public without it. But if I had to choose one makeup product to bring to a desert island, you’d better believe I’d be stocking up on concealer.

Like with mascara, I rarely use just one concealer. I usually have a few on rotation that I like to combine, but I thought I’d take you through my current essentials, because I’ve found some really great products that actually make a huge difference in how rested I look.

M·A·C Cosmetics Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer

I discovered this amazing little concealer while I was hunting for makeup with a minimum of SPF 30 for an article I wrote for Clin d’oeil magazine; I don’t think I’ve ever loved another concealer as much as I do this one. It’s creamy, and I can’t believe how well it covers. It literally makes my dark circles disappear. And let’s hear it for its built-in SPF!

K-Palette Essence in Concealer 1 Day Care Base

I bought this one in Japan a couple of years ago, and keep it in my purse for quick touch-ups throughout the day. This “skincare concealer” stick has a clear serum middle with seven ingredients, including vitamin C, ceramides, hyaluronic acid (yay!), and collagen. It doesn’t get caught in fine wrinkles (probably thanks to the serum), and is just the right hue for my half-Asian skin tone.

Guerlain Multi-Perfecting Concealer

This concealer is also quite hydrating, and provides a nice little blurring effect for a flawless look. It doesn’t cover as much as the M·A·C one, but it’s also not as heavy. I like to mix a tiny bit in with some foundation and apply it with my beautyblender as a base, before moving onto a more full-coverage formula.

Rodial Instaglam Compact Deluxe Banana Powder

I already wrote about this product in my Top 10 Beauty Gems of 2016 post, but I’ve been using it consistently every day for almost a year now, so I felt I needed to mention it again. (If you know how many beauty products I go through every month, you know that me sticking to one for so long speaks volumes!) Read about the powder here—it is nothing short of magical. Yes, it’s expensive, but as I’ve told many people, if someone stole it from me tomorrow, I’d buy a new one in a heartbeat.
